As the Senior Jewish Educator and Reform Rabbi at Johns Hopkins Hillel, Rabbi Eric Abbott aims to engage with students from all backgrounds, hear and incorporate many stories and perspectives, provide meaningful Jewish experiences, and better the community and world. Eric grew up in Rhode Island and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. During his rabbinical studies at HUC-JIR, Eric participated in a variety of work and learning opportunities, including adventure at Eisner Camp, chaplaincy at Memorial Sloan Kettering, a rabbinic internship at Larchmont Temple, and activism through T'ruah and the HUC-JIR Soup Kitchen. Moreover, he earned his M.A. in Religious Education from HUC-JIR. In his spare time, Eric enjoys playing board games, rock climbing, running and exercising, cuddling with his dog Kiwi, and spending time with his beautiful and inspiring wife, Rabbi Eliana Fischel.
