Mara Landay serves as a Human Relations Advocate (HRA) with the City of Los Angeles. In this role she staffs the Commission on Community and Family Services and the Human Relations Commission where she aims to bridge community needs with policy and programming opportunities that promote equality, fight poverty, and improve inter-group relations. Previously, Mara Landay worked as a Research Fellow with LA Mayor Eric Garcetti's Office in developing a strategy to prevent violent extremism. She also served as Assistant Director for the Leadership Academy at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, a foreign policy think tank in Washington, DC. Mara is trained in dialogue facilitation and has worked extensively with diverse communities. Her special interests include public safety, diversity, and inclusion. Furthermore, as a first-gen college graduate and daughter of a political refugee, Mara brings diverse perspectives and personal passions to the table.
